The Andrés Bello University (UNAB) has signed framework agreements both with the UPV and with ValgrAI, with the aim of being the leading university in innovation and technology transfer in Chile and Latin America, and positioning itself in Europe
València, February 6, 2025. The Valencian University Institute for Artificial Intelligence Research (VRAIN) of the Polytechnic University of València (UPV) and the Valencian Postgraduate School and Artificial Intelligence Research Network (ValgrAI) have demonstrated their research potential, with an offer of more than 24 in-house software developments and 35 artificial intelligence services, to a delegation composed of the rector of Andrés Bello University of Chile (UNAB), Julio Castro, the vice-rector for International Affairs, Issa Kort, and the honorary consul of Chile in València, Leopoldo López.
With this action, VRAIN of the UPV, which has already collaborated on several previous research projects through its research group PROS (software production methods), aims to join forces with UNAB so that this university becomes its amplifier in the transfer of innovation in artificial intelligence to the institutions and companies of Chile and Latin America.
In fact, due to the increase in collaborations that have materialized, Andrés Bello University (UNAB) signed framework agreements this past year with both the Polytechnic University of València (UPV) and the Valencian Postgraduate School and Artificial Intelligence Research Network (ValgrAI), covering the fields of innovation, research, technology transfer, and student training, with a special focus on technological development and artificial intelligence.
Positioning in Europe
With this agreement, UNAB seeks to be the leading university in Chile and Latin America in innovation and technology transfer. In addition to positioning itself in Europe with a leading university in research, innovation, and technology transfer—a natural gateway for its students, as is the case with the UPV.
The delegation headed by the rector of Andrés Bello University of Chile (UNAB), Julio Castro, included the vice-rector for International Affairs, Issa Kort, the honorary consul of Chile in València, Leopoldo López, the Director of the Ibero-American Relations Area of the UPV, Luis Manuel Sánchez, as well as the Director of Internationalization and Technology Transfer of VRAIN at the UPV, Óscar Pastor, and its innovation agent, Lucía Bernad. Also in attendance at the event was the Managing Director of the Valencian Postgraduate School and Artificial Intelligence Research Network (ValgrAI), Ana Cidad, who presented the educational offer available in the field of AI.
The group took advantage of the visit to learn about the activities of the Polytechnic University of València and the work carried out at the City of Innovation (CPI), as well as at the Valencian University Institute for Artificial Intelligence Research (VRAIN).
During the presentation of VRAIN of the UPV’s technological offer, its Director of Internationalization and Technology Transfer, Óscar Pastor, explained that “VRAIN has an extensive track record in artificial intelligence research with a multidisciplinary vision and the integration of ethical, legal, and social aspects for more than 30 years, which we want to bring to UNAB and to all the entities and companies in Chile and Latin America.”
Andrés Bello University is a non-profit private Chilean university that was established in 1988 and has been part of the Fundación Educación y Cultura since 2020. It is currently accredited by the National Accreditation Commission (CNA-Chile) and by ANECA Spain. It ranks sixth among Chilean universities according to the SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR) 2024, and is one of the four Chilean universities listed in the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU or Shanghai Ranking).
