Today, March 7, we are hosting the fifteenth edition of our “ValgrAI Research Morning Meeting,” on a very special date as we commemorate International Women’s Day (March 8). This event pays tribute to the contributions of outstanding women of our Joint Research Unit in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI), recognizing their work and promoting women’s participation in research and technological innovation.

The presence of women researchers is essential for the development and diversity of AI. Their perspective and experience provide new approaches and solutions to scientific and technological challenges. At ValgrAI, we are committed to fostering equality, inclusion, and visibility for the professionals who help shape the future of AI.

In this edition of the ValgrAI Research Morning Meeting, we have three presentations by researchers leading groundbreaking projects and initiatives in fields such as Natural Language Processing (NLP), Private Law, and Knowledge Networks. Below, you can learn more about each talk.

1. Challenges in Natural Language Generation

Speaker: Elena Lloret Pastor (GPLSI Group, University of Alicante)
Talk Summary:
This presentation focuses on the research carried out by the GPLSI group in the field of Natural Language Processing, emphasizing the “CORTEX: Conscious Text Generation” research project. It provides an overview of the current limitations in natural language generation, such as biases or lack of knowledge, and explains how this project proposes strategies to mitigate and overcome them.

2. AI in the Field of Legal Sciences

Speaker: Concepción Sáiz (University of Valencia)
Talk Summary:
The speaker outlines the lines of research developed in Private Law and explains how AI can have a significant impact on the evolution of these investigations. She highlights the legal and ethical challenges that arise when applying Artificial Intelligence technology in this field, and underscores the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to addressing them.

3. Logic-Based Linguistic Knowledge Networks

Speaker: Amparo Alcina (Tecnolettra, Jaume I University)
Talk Summary:
The researcher presents the fundamentals of the #ONTODIC model, a proposal for creating linguistic knowledge networks governed by structured logical principles. This approach facilitates internal coherence and inference within terminological and conceptual networks, enabling more robust applications in fields such as translation and natural language processing.

This Research Matinal not only celebrates technological innovation, but also the talent and diversity driving AI into the future. We hope it inspires you to continue exploring and contributing to this field, while recognizing the importance of women’s roles in scientific research.

Thank you for joining us for this special Women’s Week edition!
