Today, 5th of September, we are celebrating the eighteenth edition of our ‘Research Morning Meeting’. At ValgrAI, we are excited to continue offering a dynamic space for dialogue and discovery of the latest innovations in the field of Artificial Intelligence. This ‘back to school’ event, as it is the first after the summer break, brings us closer to some of the projects currently being developed in our ecosystem.

In this edition of ‘Research Morning Meeting’, we have two presentations by researchers who are part of innovative projects and initiatives in fields such as Scheduling 4.0 and Artificial Intelligence for the socio-economic revitalisation of small and medium-sized municipalities in Valencia. You can learn a little more about each talk below:

1. Scheduling 4.0: Energy, Learning and Transparency

Speaker: Christian Pérez Bernal
Talk Summary:
Industry 4.0 demands advanced scheduling solutions that not only optimise production performance, but also reduce energy consumption and generate user confidence. To achieve this, it is essential to design heuristics and metaheuristics aimed at multi-objective optimisation, integrating learning mechanisms based on historical data that allow the selection of operators and parameters to be dynamically adjusted, with the aim of minimising both energy consumption and makespan. The combination of intelligent metaheuristics, adaptive learning and energy transparency will enable more efficient, understandable and sustainable industrial scheduling.

2. Revital-IA: Artificial Intelligence for the socio-economic revitalisation of small and medium-sized municipalities in Valencia

Speakers: Vicent Santamarta, Cris Milego and Pablo Expósito
Talk Summary:
The main purpose of the Revital-IA project is to apply artificial intelligence techniques to public databases to promote the revitalisation of rural areas. Its approach focuses on optimising the use of available resources and promoting the development of digital talent in municipalities facing the risk of depopulation. The project is coordinated in collaboration with the company Wonderbits and the Provincial Council of Valencia.

This Research Morning Meeting celebrates technological innovation in very different fields, showcasing the talent and diversity that drive AI today and into the future. We hope it inspires you to continue exploring and contributing to this field!

Thank you for joining us for this edition!
