Valencia, 30th of september 2025.
The international association one6G, based in Switzerland, and the ValgrAI Foundation (Valencian Graduate School and Research Network of Artificial Intelligence) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) establishing a strategic collaboration for the joint advancement of sixth-generation wireless communications (6G) technologies and advanced artificial intelligence (AI) applications.
This agreement, which has a clear transformative purpose, seeks to strengthen international cooperation in a key area for the digital future, with a direct impact on strategic sectors such as connected and autonomous mobility, advanced manufacturing, digital health and distance learning.
The one6G association is an international benchmark in the promotion, testing and evolution of communication solutions based on next-generation wireless technologies. Its mission is to accelerate the adoption of 6G worldwide, supporting global research and standardisation efforts and facilitating the development of new services and applications.
For its part, ValgrAI brings together universities, research centres and companies in the Valencian Community with the aim of leading knowledge, postgraduate training and applied research in artificial intelligence and related disciplines. The foundation promotes technology transfer and cooperation with industry, positioning the region as a leading hub for AI innovation in Spain and Europe.
The signing of the agreement reinforces the complementarity between the two institutions: one6G’s experience in cutting-edge communication technologies is combined with ValgrAI’s potential in artificial intelligence research and transfer, creating a common framework for the generation of knowledge and the promotion of joint projects. In fact, one of the attractions of this collaboration is based on access to the ValgrAI Joint Research Unit (JRU), which integrate the most excellent AI researchers in the Valencian Region, with the highest scientific output and research team leaders. In this way, they will be able to collaborate on future research.
Specifically, the lines of work focus on the exchange of technical information, publications and best practices, with the aim of identifying opportunities for cooperation; joint participation in conferences, international forums and specialised events; and joint contributions of articles and studies to strengthen scientific and technological dissemination. They will also collaborate in promoting synergies between AI and advanced wireless communications, with the aim of generating innovation that has an impact on society and industry, as well as the exchange of experts and knowledge, favouring the formation of international talent networks.
The agreement was signed by the President of one6G, Mohammad Shikh-Bahaei, and the Director General of ValgrAI, Vicent Botti. In this regard, Shikh-Bahaei said that ‘the collaboration with ValgrAI opens up an essential avenue of cooperation to integrate artificial intelligence with next-generation communication technologies, which will drive practical applications to improve people’s lives and transform industry.’
Vicent Botti said: “This alliance strengthens ValgrAI’s position as a driver of innovation in artificial intelligence and allows us to work alongside a global partner to advance the convergence between AI and 6G, two technologies that will shape the future of the digital society”.
This agreement is part of a shared commitment to position Europe as a leader in the development of advanced digital technologies and to promote cooperation between international research networks. It also reinforces Valencia’s role as an innovative ecosystem in AI and communications, consolidating its international reach in the field of digital transformation.
