Affective computing studies the simulation and enhancement of interactions between computer systems and humans through the interpretation and use of human emotions. It includes the study of emotional processes such as emotion generation and recognition or empathy. Among its applications is the development of personal assistants that help with emotional regulation or with the monitoring and emotional support of elderly individuals.
