This conference, to be held at the UPV on 2 and 3 July, will feature presentations by Virginia Dignum (Umeå University), Hiroaki Kitano (Sony Group Corporation), and José Mª Azorín (Miguel Hernández University).
Valencia, 24 June 2026 – On 2 and 3 July 2026, Valencia will host a new edition of the ValgrAI Scientific Council Forum (VSCF 2026), the leading event on Artificial Intelligence in the Valencian Community, organised by ValgrAI at the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV). The event, which will take place in the UPV’s Paraninfo on the first day and will continue with the 10th UMI Meeting at the ETSINF on the 3rd, will be open to all upon registration and will also be streamed live, further consolidating its commitment to openness and its international reach.
In previous editions, the VSCF has established itself as a key platform for connecting research, business, and society, bringing together internationally renowned experts, research staff, technology sector professionals, and students to analyse the latest advances in artificial intelligence and their impact on strategic sectors. In this edition, the forum once again puts the Valencian Community on the global AI map with a high-calibre programme combining scientific knowledge, practical applications, and strategic debate.
One of the major highlights of VSCF 2026 will be the participation of leading international figures who will deliver the keynote speeches. Among them is Virginia Dignum (Umeå University), recognised worldwide for her work on the ethics of artificial intelligence, who will address the challenges of building a responsible technological future; José María Azorín (Miguel Hernández University), a leading figure in neurotechnology, who will present advances in brain-machine interfaces applied to rehabilitation; and Hiroaki Kitano, Chief Technology Officer and Senior Executive Vice President of Sony Group Corporation, who will offer a unique insight into how artificial intelligence is transforming scientific research globally. These presentations will place the forum at the heart of the international debate on the future of AI.
Alongside these main sessions, the programme will feature presentations by researchers affiliated with ValgrAI, who will present cutting-edge research findings, as well as contributions from leading companies such as S2 Grupo, Pangeanic, Nunsys, Veolia, and Idrica, which will share real-world examples of the application of artificial intelligence in areas such as industry, smart cities, and water management. The forum will be rounded off with a panel discussion featuring ValgrAI’s Scientific Council – comprising Ramón López de Mantaras, Tom Dietterich, Virginia Dignum, and Hiroaki Kitano – which will address key issues regarding the development and impact of AI models today.
Furthermore, this edition is supported by Pangeanic, Veolia, Idrica, S2 Grupo, Balearia, Valencia Innovation Capital, Sh Valencia Palace, and Pentec, who have chosen to be part of this major event celebrating research and innovation in Artificial Intelligence.

ValgrAI (Valencian Graduate School and Research Network of Artificial Intelligence) is a not-for-profit foundation comprising the Valencian Regional Government, the five public universities of the Valencian Community (UV, UPV, UA, UJI, and UMH), and companies in the sector. It coordinates study and research into artificial intelligence in the Valencian Community to meet the technological needs of businesses and promote the development of new talent in artificial intelligence, thereby revitalising the Valencian Community’s economic model.
