Development of video games to improve spatial cognitive ability
The Temporal Knowledge Bases group at the UJI investigates the application of serious games to improve spatial orientation. Specifically, it has developed an interactive game that presents paper folding activities. The paper folding game can automatically generate paper folding and punching questions with varying degrees of difficulty depending on the number of folds and holes made, resulting in additional levels for training. The reasoning mechanism in the game is provided by a qualitative model that is used to infer the correct answer to each folding and punching paper question. This tool is part of the research project “XAI4SOC: Explainable Artificial Intelligence to Enhance Education and Social Well-Being” funded by the Spanish Research Agency, coordinated with the University of Santiago de Compostela.
